CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island school district has hired a collection agency to recover unpaid lunch balances.
Bold move by the School District in Rhode Island. Just looking at some of the reactions already, you can tell most do not agree. “Now we can’t feed kids, people in prison get three meals a day”. I kind of respect the school district for this. There are programs that allow kids to receive school lunch for free or for some ridiculous amount I think it was fifty cents.
I mean the school is free, paying for lunch shouldn’t be a problem. Although small bills are easy to look over.
The district also wrote off more than $95,000 from Sept. 1, 2016, to Jun 30, 2018. The unpaid balance for this year stands at $45,859.
